the spider, the frog and the butterfly, part 3

Twelve days have passed since Kathy last saw Froggy and started her agonizing transformation, when Ziggy was standing on his wooden bridge and began wondering what was that strange thing that was hanging in the artificial tree, which strangely reminded him of his first days after beeing born, surrounded by hundreds of brothers and sister.
"Hmm... i wonder what ever happend to them... If it hadn't been for The Hand..." His thoughts were distracted when the strange thing began moving.

"This oughta be interesting..."

While the nymphae burst open, something strange was emerging out of it.

"That... reminds me of the worms i ate two weeks ago... only this one looks a lot bigger and... wow... what are those... wings...? Hmm... strange looking worm, I better go and take a closer look." And the spider began walking towards the artifficial tree.

Khaty felt a bit strange after her long sleep, waking up with a pair of dark and floppy wings with which she wasn't sure what she was suppose to do, but then, her instinct, which seemed to be more like a thought told her words she was sure she has heard them before, but couldn't remember where or when; well she couldn't really remember much of everything, it was like a fog covering her every thought and everything was so vague, but still those words kept coming back to her: bring life in your wings and you shall bring beauty into the world. And so she did, her floppy ugly dark wings hardened into a rainbow of colors turning bloody red with shades of white and blue and a pair of blue eyes on the bottom.

"Well... hello there, beautiful!"

"Uhh.. aa.." she turned around facing Ziggy, who was standing with four of his front legs, on the patch of grass, "... sorry, i didn't noticed you there..." and she flapped her wings and flew over to the bridge.

"Where did you go...?" said Ziggy, turning around and thinking to himself: this one is gonna be a bit harder to catch than the little green squashy frog i had last week.

"Oh... hey i'm over here, i was just testing my wings... ", she flapped her wings again, rose, made two circles in the air "oo wow... this is so amazing..."

"This is gonna be harder than i thought, i gotta make her stand still", Ziggy said to himself and began climbing the wooden bridge.

"...you should try it to..." and landed on the coconut. "Ooo... i'm sorry, you don't have wings, silly me, hi hi.."

"I don't need wings to eat you" mumbled Ziggy.

"Sorry... didn't heard you, what...?" and she flew back on the bridge.

"Aa.. nothing... i ..a.. said i don't need wings, i've got other tricks i could show you later."

"Really, like what... ?"

"I said, later... "

"Oh .. ok... soo... a.. is this your home? ... it looks like it"

"And you look like an uninvited guest, care to explain?"

"I would gladly like to... i can't actually remember much... it's all fuzzy"

"I'm sure it will come back to you", smiled Ziggy, reveiling his poisoned fangs.

"Ha.. ha.. yeaaah... i'm aa.. sure too..." she got scared and flew over the tree. Her thoughts were still confused, but she began remembering. Oh.. no.. Froggy... dear Froggy, he didn't make it... and Alex... When she thought of Alex she almost felt that sweet taste of the apple tree's leaves. And then she said: "Where is.. Froggy?"

"Fr... what..?"

"You know, that sweet little green frog..."

"I have no idea what you're talking about", but he sure tasted great.

I'm sure you don't, said Kathy to herself. "So how did you get here?"

"That i should be asking you... I call it The Hand... "

"...of Fate...?"

"No just The Hand... there's no such thing as fate, you make your own fate."

"So what does this The Hand do?"

"It helps you fulfill your fate."

"Well it doesn't make sense, for you see, it wasn't my fate to be here."

"Maybe it was... it is the fate of my desire becoming true with the help of The Hand."

"So you're saying The Hand brought me here, because you wanted to?"

"Yes, it did..."

"But then again how can i make my own fate if The Hand mingles in?"

"Fate is yours to control, but The Hand is not, It's above everything and everyone." Ziggy was getting closer and closer to the tree.

"But... you said... " she realized the spider got to close to her and flew over the head of the false statue, near the other end of the wooden bridge, "you said... i got here because you wanted so... so is this hand some sord of wishmaker?"

"Well i guess you could call it that. "

"And what does it want in return?"

"That i'm not sure yet..." and he returned on the bridge, trying to get as close to her as possible.

"But i guess all It wants it's a bit of attention and affection."

"And can you give him that?"

"What.. do i look so cold blooded?"

"But aren't you cold blooded...?? "

"Actually i am.. ha ha... "

"What if i wish to get out... will The Hand help me?"

"I doubt you have enough faith in It to help you, and even if you had it, i wouldn't let you. Many came in, but none got out... well maybe a fly or two, trough the tiny holes in the ceiling, but you can't squeeze in there."

"And so it is... Froggy coudn't get out because of you." and she flew over the coconot again.

"You finally get it. Ha ha.. it's pointless flying around, you cand fly all you want, but sooner or later you will get tired and you will have to land, and when you do, i will be there. I may look like i'm slow walking, but you cannot imagine the speed i can develop. I can attack you in a blink of a a second, without you even notice what's happening, so don't give yourself hope, there's no escape".

But as soon as he finished his words, at the other end of the terrarium, part of the ceiling cracked open. The Hand had listened to my wish, so it does exist and she flew over the wooden bridge:
"Catch me now, if you can"

She got out, her instict guided her towards the open window, out there in the endless green, out there where freedom smells like roses and apples, out there with only one thought: Alex.
